One moment you are standing in front of La Pietà (sorrow of Mary), and the next, before the Creation of Adam by Michelangelo. Few realize that there's a vast world standing between these masterpieces, the Renaissance world—a realm of artistic brilliance, the one that has great works of not only Michelangelo but Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Bernini, and Caravaggio. They all fit in the smallest country in the world, Vatican City. The journey I talk about above takes you from St. Peter's Basilica to the ceiling painting, through the Vatican Museums.

Verona— the setting of Romeo and Juliet, as famous as Shakespeare’s story itself. I’d argue it is much more than that. Many don't know, that Shakespeare never even visited Verona in his lifetime, it was an ordinary town where an extraordinary story takes place. The story went viral mostly after the American film ‘ Romeo and Juliet’ was made in 1908 as did Verona.

Heritage

I find myself captivated by certain things, even though they are considered old and outdated. A dome never ceases to amaze me, a 3 dimensional arch, that's still crazy to me. They deserve way more attention for their historical and architectural significance. Domes have been built since the Mesopotamian era. However, they underwent a transformative journey in European and Islamic architecture that took it to the next level with advancements in mathematics, materials, and production techniques.

I want to document 3 of such wonders that I have visited.

It is a series of interconnected events that take over the entire city with installations, lectures, temporary exhibitions, and pop-ups every year in April.

Zero waste

How much waste is there?

India generates 62 million tonnes of waste each year. About 43 million tonnes (70%) are collected, of which about 12 million tonnes are treated, and 31 million tonnes are dumped in landfill sites. These landfills seep toxins and unsanitary chemicals into our water and earth. We use the same water and earth to grow our food and it ultimately affects our day-to-day lives.

Milan, Italy

I was never this far away from home and that too for a longer commitment but I was here wasn't I? I was thrown into a pile of new things and new things aren't mine they are nobody's, and you have to claim them as yours. More than the amount people have envied me for being in Italy I have envied them back for being at home, their place, and their comfort zone.

I am sure all my Punekars and enthusiasts have visited all the spots from ‘Pune Darshan’. I am also sure your list does not include these sites. Though, I know some puneits who have gone their entire life without even visiting Shaniwar Wada. How does that work, I don't know!

It all begins with an idea.We, humans, have a deep connection with nature & have been collecting stimuli responses since we were organisms. We have evolved on nature’s inputs, now we are in the need to reconnect!

What is sustainability?

It is simply maintaining a certain level or rate. But for this blog, we are going to discuss sustainability in our daily lives. It is all about how we treat energy, how we come to acquire it, how do we convert it & how do we let it go.

In 2021 in cities like Pune, we no longer have the luxury of big rooms, verandas & personal gardens like rular royalties of our country. We either have to roam around the city too early in the morning for fresh air or just run far away from the city!

Lockdown is coming to an end and we all wish it doesn’t repeat again (like we wished the time). We have realized at least a few things through homeschooling, work from home, isolation, etc., that weren’t right with our lives before. Instead of going back to the same lifestyle let’s bring some learned concepts to our everyday life.
